¡¡¡¡Mayor Xia Geng held online dialogues with citizens recently at the Qingdao
Daily Group. It was one of the activities of the city¡¯s drive named ¡±Donating my
ideas for the city¡¯s development ¡±.
¡¡¡¡Xia Geng browsed the suggestions raised by the citizens on the internet and
repl
ied to 19 questions with public concern, the questions covered the city¡¯s
development, the city¡¯s emergency systems construction, narrowing the gap
between the North and the South, and building up the shipping center in North
China. Xia Geng also answered frankly on questions of agriculture, farmers and
the rural districts.
¡¡¡¡Xia Geng said he could feel the people¡¯s passion and their hopes for the
city¡¯s social and economical development during the online communication with
the citizens. He appreciated their participation in the activity. Although he
couldn¡¯t respond to all of the questions, he would view all of them and motivate
the concerned departments to deal with the problems raised by the people. He
said this way of communication was helpful for the government to further improve
its administration work. More channels will be opened for the government to
listen to the voice of the public in the coming years. The government could
gather the suggestions and ideas from the citizens and more people could be
involved in the city¡¯s development. Some 80,000 people have visited the websites
and raised 2232 suggestions.
